One day in 2010, I have cooked up a picture. That is a landscape of Tokyo. Now that you look carefully into it, a flying tiny human-shaped object is in the picture. I send it to a tabloid paper. A few days later, disguising the fact that I cooked it up, the tabloid paper interviewed me as the first person to discover the object in the sky. The reporter named the object in the picture as “Flying Humanoid”, and he reported about it in an article of morning paper.
When it was published, the news spread through media such as TV, web, radio and magazines. The news, once spread through the media, was beyond my control.
This work is a record that the false information spread through media and it was consumed in large amounts. Due to consumption of information, exhaustion is an inevitable problem for the modern person. It is an idea of this work to make a controversial proposal for intangible pure information consumption by spreading a seemingly non-significant picture throughout society.
『ニュースをつくる』

2010年のある日、私は1枚の写真を捏造した。それは東京の街並を捉えた風景写真で、よく見ると空を飛ぶ小さな人間のようなものが写っている。私はタブロイド紙にその写真を送った。数日後、私は写真を捏造したことを偽り、その空に写った何かの第一発見者として新聞記者の取材を受けた。その結果、新聞記者は写真に写ったものを「フライング・ヒューマノイド」と名付け、タブロイド紙の朝刊に記事を載せた。新聞記事になったことでそのニュースは、TVやインターネット、ラジオ、雑誌などのメディアへと広まった。一旦メディアにのったニュースは、私がコントロールできない所まで広がっていった。
この作品は偽の情報がメディアを通して広がり、大量に消費されたことの記録である。現代人にとって情報消費による疲弊は避けられない問題である。一見意味の無い写真を社会に拡散し消費させることによって、実体の伴わない純粋な情報消費を批評的に見せることがこの作品の狙いである。
